You must mail in passport size photos of the immigrant and potentially the US Citizen spouse. How many photos are needed depends on your situation and the forms you have elected to file. Here's a simplified guide to ensure your photos meet the necessary specifications:

  4. Background: Use a plain white or off-white background.

  5. Facial Expression and Direction: Maintain a neutral facial expression and directly face the camera.

  6. Attire: Wear your regular daily clothes. Uniforms or costumes should not be worn unless they are religious clothing worn daily.

  7. Head Coverings and Glasses: Avoid hats or head coverings unless worn for religious purposes. If you must wear glasses following a medical procedure, include a signed medical statement from a professional.

  8. Additional Items: Avoid headphones, wireless hands-free devices, and similar items.

  9. Quality: The photo should be printed on high-quality paper with a glossy finish, unmounted, and unretouched.

  10. Number of Photos: For an adjustment of status application, include two passport-style photographs.

  11. Time of Taking Photos: The photos must be taken within 30 days of filing the application.
