The designation of "Hispanic/Latino" ethnicity is primarily self-identified and refers to individuals who trace their ancestry or cultural roots to Spanish-speaking countries. This includes a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds due to the historical, geographical, and cultural connections with Spain and Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America. Here are the key points to consider:

Spanish-Speaking Countries Origin: People who originate from, or have ancestry connected to, Spanish-speaking countries are typically considered Hispanic/Latino. This includes countries in Latin America (such as Mexico, Central and South American countries, and the Caribbean) and Spain.

Cultural Identification: The term also encompasses individuals who identify with the Hispanic/Latino culture, which can include language, traditions, customs, and other cultural elements. It's not solely based on race; individuals of any race can be Hispanic/Latino.

Self-Identification: Ethnicity, especially in the context of Hispanic/Latino identity, is largely a matter of self-identification. People choose to identify as Hispanic or Latino based on their own sense of connection to this cultural heritage.

As a general rule, please use the same classification that you may have already used in past visa/immigration documentation. it is highly unlikely that you have not identified previously and its important to maintain consistency
